The "Soap Box Roadster"

The Concept

A while back I had a friend with a hot rod shop in Washington state. He wanted to spark the interest of a local car collector with a project, and I came up with this. He never got his meeting with the collector, but this idea has turned me into a brainstorming FEIND. I've been manically fiddling with it ever since...

So...tall wheels, fuel injection, hybrid/alternative fuel technology and smooth body lines are for the new (and "new/old") cars right? Well, in this concept, everything on this car is pre-1947 tech. I didn't realize it at the time, but I had just created a perfect platform for a new generation, earth friendly car...(that didn't look like a mutated bean pod.) We're not only interested in creating this as a one-off hot rod, but also as a production kit using all manner of power plants, single or two seater.

I'm currently developing FIVE different versions of this car right now, and we are looking for a buyer/partner to join us in the creation of one or all of them. This design draws from the beautiful simplicity of a kid's soap box racer. She's crisp, lightweight and bare basic, with the clean and timeless profile of the mighty '32 Ford Hi-Boy Roadster.

Check back for further additions to this page and please contact us if you're interested in the project. You simply won't believe the potential this design has. - Thanks, Tim

Some of you folks may be familiar with this one. I initially designed this back in '96 for Halibrand Engineering as a segway for them to enter the motorcycle aftermarket. It was also published in VQ magazine's "Dream Bike" series in '97. The bike has been built several times since then by other shops from all over the world (usually minus sidecar) with varying degrees of success. Currently House of Thunder Harley-Davidson in Morgan Hill, California is taking a crack at it.

I'm presenting this again on my site in the hopes of finding an owner willing to purchase my version of it, sidecar and all. Check back here for updates, and feel free to contact me with any questions you might have. - Thanks, Tim
